Just finished up a great week at the Transitions Championship. It's amazing to me how many people who are serious about improving their game overlook their vision. I'm constantly reminding my clients, including my PGA Tour guys, that no matter how fundamentally sound their swing becomes, they still can't hit what they can't clearly see. The strain on your eyes caused by uncorrected vision and prolonged exposure to UV rays can add strokes to your scorecard just as quickly as hitting duck hooks off the tee, so make sure you regularly visit your local optometrist and ask about the benefits of Transitions lenses.

This week’s Improve Your Vision, Improve Your Game tip is all about eye position. I stress the importance of eye position over the ball for players of all levels, including my clients who are TOUR pros.
Proper eye position over the ball is crucial when putting. It is important that you get your dominant eye over the back of the ball (relative to the hole) and your line of sight directly on top of the ball. Improper eye alignment can cause you to see the putter face as square to your target line when it is actually aimed right or left of that line. You can perform a simple vision alignment test by setting up to hit a putt and dropping a coin or other small object from the bridge of your nose. This test will reveal where your eyes are in relation to the ball when you hit a putt.
