How does it feel down there after 3 hours, 6 hours, even 10 hours of riding? There can be some discomfort to say the least…for men and women. The popularity of no-nose saddles has been on the rise, especially after they were featured in a recent article in the New York Times.
ISM, Ideal Saddle Modification, created by former police officer Steve Toll, is a no-nose saddle that is designed to deal with the issues that arise from using a traditional saddle-restricted blood flow, discomfort and pressure on the blood vessels, among other things.
Tim, our guest blogger who is sharing his experiences during RAGBRAI, rides with an ISM saddle. “I was drawn to this saddle because of the medical benefits I heard it provided. After switching from a traditional saddle to an ISM saddle, I noticed another benefit, as well- I can stay in a more aggressive racing position because even after a long period of time, I’m still comfortable,” he said.
Professional riders and triathletes are seeing the benefits too. Bike-riding police officers in Chicago are also equipped with them.
