This week’s Improve Your Vision, Improve Your Game tip is all about eye position. I stress the importance of eye position over the ball for players of all levels, including my clients who are TOUR pros.
Proper eye position over the ball is crucial when putting. It is important that you get your dominant eye over the back of the ball (relative to the hole) and your line of sight directly on top of the ball. Improper eye alignment can cause you to see the putter face as square to your target line when it is actually aimed right or left of that line. You can perform a simple vision alignment test by setting up to hit a putt and dropping a coin or other small object from the bridge of your nose. This test will reveal where your eyes are in relation to the ball when you hit a putt.
